The Art of Preparing an Exquisite Sandwich: I Made It Earlier Today

Sandwiches are a beloved favorite among food lovers worldwide. With its meaty flavor and sandwich-like texture, a perfectly assembled bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich can elevate any meal—from simple fiestas to grand breakfasts. But crafting an exquisite bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is a true art form that requires skill, knowledge, and a touch of butter. This academic article will guide you through the secrets of preparing the perfect BEC, turning your culinary efforts into a flavorful sandwich that will taste awesome.

Choosing the Right Ingredients

The quest for a delicious bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich begins by selecting your ingredients. Popular options include bacon, egg, and cheese. I make my BEC's on bagels if we have them, which, thank the almighty powers that govern the universe, we did have bagels.

  • Bacon: Known for being tasty, this cut of pork provides a salty, flavorful experience with each bite. Approximately 80% of bacon is super-duper tasty, which is cool.

  • Egg: These babies are famous for coming out of chickens and being too expensive these days. They are a favorite among those who enjoy eggs.

  • Cheese: A dairy forward option, cheese is widely considered to be good. Cheese is used in mac and cheese and bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches.

Other Stuff that Makes Sandwiches Taste Good

Once you have figured out what constitutes a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, it's time to zhuzh it up. This is how I take an utterly ordinary sandwich, and turn it into a mouthwateringly scrumptious edible superstar.

Try putting this stuff on your sandwich so it tastes better:

  • Butter on your bagel is a smart move

  • Salt & Pepper should always be involved when making an egg

  • Ketchup is controversial, but I tried it on my BECs recently and I think it totally works.

Preparation

There are multiple crucial steps when crafting your bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. One wrong move and your sandwich can become horribly disfigured. Every move you make is crucial, and your sandwich's life could depend on it.

  • Starting: Get that bagel in the toaster oven right away, it can take a little time. I wait until I start to see a golden brown hue begin to appear, then I snatch it and put it on my plate. I then add a healthy schmear of butter on each half and set the bagel aside.

  • The Egg: This is where you can ruin your sandwich. Overcook your egg and it will taste like bland garbage. Undercook it, and the white part doesn't get cooked all the way through, which I find nasty. I nailed it today, it cooked completely through, with the yolk just a little runny. Eureka. This egg was absolutely ravishing.

  • Meat & Dairy: My father had made bacon earlier in the week, so I only needed to warm it up. I find that the heat of the egg is not sufficient in properly melting the cheese, so I warm up the bacon and cheese in the microwave together for about ten or fifteen seconds. I chose six pieces of bacon and one slice of American cheese from Jewel-Osco.

  • Seasoning: Have your salt and pepper at the ready. I highly recommend using the 'fresh-cracked' variety, and if you don't, then you should have no trouble getting into your local mental institution.

Assembly

A mad scientist looks to finish his creation. He becomes a whirlwind of spatulas dancing through the kitchen. First, the toasted and buttery bagel is thrown onto the plate. Nearly in the same blink of an eye, a spatula masterfully hoists the bacon and cheese lattice and lays it to rest on the bottom half of the bagel. The perfectly cooked egg flies across the kitchen and lands right where you want it. Salt and pepper float down onto the egg like snowflakes on a windless evening. The ketchup came out of the bottle a little bit fast but it's fine. I tried to even it out with my finger and that kind of worked. The top half of the bagel was truly the glass slipper to my Cinderella, giving this sandwich a showstopping finish. It is now time to dine.

What I Watched on TV

As we all know, what you watch while you eat determines 70% of taste. If you watch something horrible like Young Sheldon, you will not be able to enjoy your meal. Personally, I chose The Simpsons - Season Two Episode Three - Treehouse of Horror. This Halloween special was a divine accompaniment to my sandwich. I giggled with glee and twiddled my toes while I ate my feast. Life is worth living for moments like this.

A lime La Croix was a refreshing change of pace that I sipped between bites.

The Rating

Rating a sandwich like this is completely ridiculous. Expecting somebody to attempt to scale this beautiful blend of meat, cheese, and egg is like asking a parent to choose their favorite child, and whatever children that weren't chosen would be tortured to death. However, it must be done. I give it a 9.1 because the bacon was pretty average when compared to other bacons I have enjoyed in my life.

Takeaways

Perfecting the art of preparing an exquisite bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is a fulfilling journey that can elevate your kitchen skills and also taste awesome.

So fire up your toaster, hope that somebody made bacon earlier in the week, and create something beautiful. If you can't make a decent sandwich then you should probably give up on cooking anything. Good luck!
